Quimper Community Federal Credit Union had its humble beginnings when Mr. W.B. Cornett and W.B. (Tommy) Camfield approached the manager of the local Port Townsend paper mill (then called National Association of Paper Products Co.) with the intent of forming a credit union. With the assistance of the Washington State Credit Union League, the Articles of Incorporation were signed and filed to establish the state chartered NAPPCO Credit Union. The first meeting was held on May 4, 1939 with forty employees in attendance, eight attendees deposited to a share account and the credit union was off and running. Eligibility to open an account at that time was limited to paper mill employees and their families. This continued on into the 1960’s when Crown Zellerbach purchased the mill and the credit union changed its name to Crown Z Credit Union. The field of membership remained unchanged and continued to operate on location at the mill.

In 1984, Crown Z sold to a German company. As the founding sponsor was no longer present in this area, the credit union sought to grow and diversify its membership plus claim a new identity under a name that would encompass members other than mill employees. As the city of Port Townsend sits on its own peninsula, the Quimper Peninsula, a new location in town and the new name of Quimper Credit Union was chosen. The credit union was now able to offer accounts to not only the mill employees but to all small businesses and their employees in Port Townsend.


Another name change was made in 1988 when the community charter was approved. Quimper Community Credit Union was set to accept membership from all of East Jefferson County. Plans began in 2003 to build a branch in Port Hadlock, part of that process including the credit union leaving the “state charter” status and becoming a “federal credit union”. Quimper Community Federal Credit Union opened its new branch in Port Hadlock, November 2004, giving added convenience of location to Jefferson County residents.

With the move to federal status, eligibility to join the credit union now includes anyone who works, worships or resides in Jefferson or Clallam County plus any family member of a current member is eligible to open an account.

How To Join?
Simply download and complete a membership application and deliver it to the credit union with a check for at least $5.00 to open your minimum balance savings account. If the membership account card is not signed in the presence of an employee then your signature will need to be notarized. You will also need to supply the credit union a copy of photo identification. A new membership card will be mailed to you with account disclosures and audio response (24 hour teller) telephone instruction card.

We will loan funds to purchase or refinance your home, buy all your big toys (cars, motorcycles, boats, planes & RV's), mobile homes, land, musical instruments, furniture, computers and a wide range of lines of credit.

Lines of Credit Loans
Quimper Community Federal Credit Union offers a couple different line of credit loans to its members. With good credit you may be eligible for "instant approval!" Also available are an equity/line of credit, which is determined by the assessed value of your home (up to $5,000.00), and your income at a better interest rate for five years. Each of these loans has a 3-year draw period at which time we require a small update application. You may, at that time, be eligible for a larger credit limit.

New and Used Vehicle Loans
In the market for a new or used vehicle? Come in to your credit union for a pre-approval so that you can go shopping. With exceptional credit we can even offer you a "pre approved purchase check" you can take shopping with you! We offer 100% financing on new and used vehicles with great rates. If you finance a "clean-air" car you may be eligible for a 1% rate discount. Maybe you're looking for another tax deduction? By getting an Auto/Equity loan you may qualify for tax-deductible interest (you need to check with your tax adviser to be certain). Some restrictions may apply, subject to credit approval.

Level-Headed Home Equity Loans
