Gesa is a credit union, a not-for-profit financial cooperative. Some of our members are consumers. Some are business owners. Some are both. Some members deposit money. Some borrow it. Some do both. It’s all about you and your money.

We’re here to help you save and borrow in a sensible way. Each day we’re pleased to hear stories from our members who tell us Gesa makes a difference in their lives. We look forward to serving you and hearing your story about how your financial future is stronger with Gesa Credit Union.

From modest beginnings in 1953, Gesa Credit Union has grown from a part-time office operating out of a shoe box, to an $850 million financial cooperative serving over 85,000 members located around the world. Gesa Credit Union is proud of its over half century history, and the financial services it has brought to Eastern Washington. Today, Gesa's spirit still reflects those early days when the motto, "people helping people," held strong.

Since 1996, when Gesa became a community-chartered credit union, the credit union has doubled its membership and added $600 million in assets. Gesa now has nine branches in three counties, but continues to show a commitment to its roots. People in our communities have made Gesa one of the largest credit unions in Washington State.

What Does the Future Hold For Gesa?

Gesa is constructing a corporate headquarters on the corner of Gage and Steptoe in Richland. The new headquarters is planned for opening in the late fall of 2009. The facility will be LEED certified which will make Gesa a community leader in green technologies. LEED is a Green Building Rating System which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Gesa considered a myriad of environmental and financial benefits to earning LEED certification. This LEED-certified building will lower operating costs and increase asset value; reduce waste sent to landfills; conserve energy and water; provide a healthier and safer environment for staff and members; and reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

LEED Certification demonstrates Gesa's commitment to the stewardship of members' funds, as well as an environmental commitment and social responsibility for the community in which we all live.

A new branch is planned for the fall of 2009 in the growing community of South Kennewick. The branch will also be LEED certified.

In addition to physical growth, Gesa continues to add services and products that are convenient, economical and desirable for our growing communities. Increased electronic services, multilingual access, and support for convenient member services is a priority for Gesa now and in the future.

Whatever the future may hold, the goal of the board, management, and staff will be the same: to bring quality, economical financial services to Gesa members, wherever they may live.
