In 1976, several businessmen discovered a common dissatisfaction with the available banking services in The Dalles, Oregon. Pooling their resources and gathering like-minded individuals, in 1977 Columbia River Banking Company was chartered and opened a single office as Columbia River Bank in The Dalles, OR. From the beginning, Columbia River Bank resolved to remain a local, community driven bank. In 1996, the holding company, Columbia Bancorp, was formed with Steve Martin as Chairman of the Board and Terry Cochran as President.

30 years later, Columbia River Bank stands as one of the largest community banks in the Northwest with 22 branches serving 18 markets. The bank grew both by opening new branches and by merging like-minded community banks. Remaining a community-focused bank, today Columbia River Bank services expand far beyond those first early years. In addition to the expected banking services -- from free checking to money market accounts, Columbia River Bank offers a wide array of non-traditional banking services ranging from equipment leases to health savings accounts. Customers also have access to investment and retirement services through CRB Financial Services.* In one stop, Columbia River Bank provides our local community members with the variety of choices most often found only in urban areas.

Yet, we have not forgotten our roots. The men who started this bank believed that the community deserved a local bank. Columbia River Bank remains that bank in every community we serve: the local bank, with big bank services. With deep community roots, the roots feed the bank and in return, the bank feeds the
community.
